Walt Disney World recently changed its ticket system, and we want to make sure you know about it. The best summary I’ve seen thus far comes from this blog post at Undercover Tourist. So this won’t be a long post, because you should just read theirs. But here’s the basic scoop:
Basically, they now offer date-based tickets and flexible tickets. The idea is that if you buy date-based tickets for dates that are popular at the park, they will be more expensive. Want to buy for dates that are in less demand? You guessed it, the price should be cheaper than before. Now, most accounts are that this is an overall price increase for the tickets (ie for most folks the ticket price will be effectively higher now), but you still need to know how the system works.
The catch with date-based tickets is that they have to be used within a certain time frame of the specified dates. So they have a little built in flexibility. For example, a 3-day ticket must be used within 5 days of the specified date.
